NDP TRAILBLAZER RAY MARTIN RELEASES “MADE IN ALBERTA” MEMOIR

EDMOTON – Former Alberta NDP Leader Ray Martin will release his memoir, “Made in Alberta: The Ray Martin Story”, covering his 40 years in Alberta politics on Friday, September 27, 2018.

“I’m happy to share my story with the Albertans who’ve supported me over my time in politics.” said Martin. “My hope is that this book will show how progressive values are Albertan values.”

The book covers Ray’s childhood in Delia and education at the University of Albertan in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He describes his education and coaching career in Calgary, and his political awakening in 1968.

The book then goes through Ray’s fifteen election campaigns, overlapping with events like the death of Grant Notley, his landmark 1986 campaign, the brutal 1993 campaign, comeback in 2004, and his relationship with Jack Layton. Finally, he describes his view of the NDP triumph in 2015 with Premier Rachel Notley, who penned the book’s introduction.

“This is an inspirational book, not a ‘tell-all’.” said co-author John Ashton. “It’s an affirmation to young New Democrats that you can overcome adversity and stand up for your Albertan progressive values.”

“Made in Alberta: The Ray Martin Story” is available on Friday, September 27th at www.raymartinbook.ca.
